THE FOLLOWING IS STILL BEING EDITED. For my parents asking about grades now. All tests except vocabulary and spelling are open book and open note! The weekly, cold reads are the only tests that we do NOT prepare for SPECIFICALLY. Reading: 60% of the grade 1. Florida Ready ELA(approximately 1 test per week PLUS unit tests, stapled and put into Tuesday's packet) 2. Cold Reads (the photocopied sheet that has a story with 4 multiple choice questions on the front and an essay question that students answer on the back-teachers have attached a sample response/rubric)-we tear this off on Wednesday morning and add it to the writing binder to show growth over the year-as they get a little harder 3. Journeys Skills Tests (after the 3rd lesson and then every 5th lesson after that) on Think Central-you can see questions and answers 40% of the grade 1. Journeys Weekly Vocabulary assessments (on Think Central-you can see questions and answers) 2. Florida Ready Math (lesson tests, stapled and put into Tuesday's packet if it was a workbook page-after lesson 8B, it will always be a photocopied quiz for each lesson) Multi-response questions are worth one point for each letter choice whether it is a choice or not a choice. The remainder of the year, we will be using the photocopied quizzes. 2. Sometimes the questions may be formatted differently, but the skill/standard is the same. Students are encouraged to ALWAYS use hints and ALWAYS use videos (they do NOT lose points for using them). You are welcome to help at home, too. Miss Lorance reassigns work that is under 70%. It allows students to utilize hints and videos as they retake the test. It also allows them to improve their weekly score. I help students on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the lab from 3:10-3:45 (if they need it). If students or parents have used the hints and videos and are still confused, please ask and we will go over it again in class. Writing: 60% of the grade 1.
